CUT, COLOUR, CLARITY, CARAT…

If we are talking diamonds

Key words/phrases;

’Internal flaws’ when referencing the diamond clarity which refers to imperfections within the diamond itself causing it to appear potentially cloudy and therefore not as flawless looking.

’External flaws’ when referencing diamond clarity referring to outward flaws visible on the diamond exterior for example minor scratches.

’Cut’ referring to the finish of a diamond taking into account factors such as the shape, size proportions of the cut and more.

’Carat’ referring to the weight of the diamond.

‘Solitaire’ is the term used to describe a single diamond or gemstone with no other size/decorative embroidery stones.

’Cz’/‘Cubic zirconium’ both mean the same across our website; this is the specification for the diamond type indicating it is lab grown.

’HC’ across this website refers to ‘High carbon’ which refers to the specification for the gemstones and diamonds across the website. ‘HC’ (High carbon) gemstones and diamonds are a type of lab grown diamond/stone, essentially indicating it has high carbon purity making the stone harder so it resembles that of a natural diamond/gemstone.

‘Moissanite’ is a natural mineral/substance which can be found in and/or make up the composition of a gemstone. The moissanite is what gives the stones their brilliance and exceptional sparkling refraction. Gemstones tend to be lab grown unless stated otherwise in a product description, but if it states it is moissanite this means the moissanite is natural within the stone so you can expect the piece to be very sparkly like a real diamond.

Sizing advice- If you are unsure which ring size to get for someone you are gifting and you have no way of finding out their size, the only other option is to go by the average male and female ring sizes. The average male ring size according to what we found online is a US 10 or 11 and for females it is a US 7 or 8 to be able to fit on at least one of the persons fingers.

Jewellery care & cleaning- Treat your jewellery purchases as you would if you were purchasing real diamonds, with utmost care!

Refrain from getting your jewellery pieces wet. If they do get wet ensure you clean them with the Seltora branded cloth which is specifically for maintaining your pieces.

For longevity we recommend you remove your jewellery pieces every night, clean them with the Seltora branded cloth and put them back into their packaging or in a plastic sealed zip bag. If you see dirt or marks on your jewellery ensure you clean it with the Seltora branded cloth immediately so it does not build up.

Avoid using water to clean your pieces.

If you have a jewellery UV cleaning device you wish to put your pieces in for more in-depth cleansing we advise you do not use the device for our pieces, as some of the metal alloys under the surface plating of the jewellery pieces, or alloys combined in the surface plating of the piece may cause chemical reactions which could cause faster erosion depending on which metal alloys the jewellery is made of. A UV cleaning device may be safe for some pieces but to take precaution we do not recommend using a cleaning device, you should only use the Seltora branded cloth. Using a UV cleaning device will be at your own discretion.

Specifications

We provide a range of innovative jewellery pieces. Many of the pieces are made of or plated with precious metals/real silver and gold, then completed with other robust alloys/metals that make up the entire pieces and elements to achieve exquisite innovative designs that are affordable for you!

Silver

Silver is quite a malleable element meaning it is bendy. It is beautiful and quality which is why many of our pieces across this website are made of 925 (sterling)silver or are made of other robust alloys and plated with a percentage of silver. However, due to silver being bendy, it is ideal for it to be strengthened making it more robust by putting it together with fortified alloys such as metals like steel, copper, tungsten, titanium and many others. These alloys combined with the silver can take away from the value of the piece making it more affordable than a piece that is full silver or full gold, but it does not necessarily take away from the quality.

Durability and longevity of 925 sterling silver jewellery pieces depends on your care and handling of the pieces, such as avoiding your pieces getting wet constantly, or not frequently removing and cleaning the pieces as you would with more costly pieces.

925 sterling silver on jewellery pieces means that piece has 92.5% silver in it and the remaining percentage of that piece is made up of other alloy metals. Due to the remaining percentage being made up of other alloys it is your responsibility to maintain your pieces, as some properties of the other alloys the 925 piece may be made up of could have properties that are not as great such as the alloy not being water resistant or it being easier to fade etc. This is why the maintenance of your pieces is important.

Gold & Percentages

The amount of real gold in a piece or plated on a piece is represented by the numbers, hence 14K, 18K and 24K gold.

Disclaimers & Jewellery FAQs

Our pieces are affordable diamond replacements and other pieces made of various combined metals hence the pricing being significantly lower than organic diamond pieces or entirely precious metal made pieces. Therefore you should not expect organic diamonds or entirely precious metal made pieces when purchasing from SELTORA.

Furthermore due to our pieces being of a varied combination of precious metals and alloys, you should not expect to be able to sell your purchased items from this website on for a profit afterward as the metal quantities may vary per piece.

It is also good to note that sterling silver/silver/925 silver does not sell for much after purchasing as the value is not the same as the value at purchase; you are normally paying for the design, craftsmanship and rarity with sterling silver/silver/925 silver pieces so they are not pieces for investments they are better for your personal use.

Some pieces from the ‘Luxe’ collection may however still hold some worth even after purchase  but in most cases it is not likely as jewellers do not tend to purchase mixed metal purity pieces especially if the metal quantities are not 100% known beneath plating due to the mix, or if pieces are precious metal plated but various metal underneath (which is what we provide on this website at SELTORA).

When purchasing jewellery from us it is better to keep these pieces for your personal use or to give as a gift to another; these pieces are not generally investment or profitable type pieces as they are generally mixed metals and majority of the pieces are not made of organic stones/diamonds, hence the affordability of our pricing.

Overall these pieces are mainly intended to be more affordable to replace your more costly, full precious metal made pieces.

*Note that none of our pieces are 100% pure silver, gold or platinum unless stated in the description. Our pieces have a percentage of silver/gold and the remaining percentage is made up of other metals and alloys.

If there is no number in the description for the amount of silver or gold in a piece then this means it is a mixture of other metals so that piece may not be made up of as much pure silver or gold hence why descriptions may say ‘mixed with other metals/alloys’.

  • Our 925 section indicates a piece may only be silver inscribed but not entirely made of 925 sterling silver (as it may just be the plating or some other element of the ring), however the piece will generally be mixed metal with slightly more silver than the other metals.
  • The Gold collection indicates pieces that are some variant of gold coloured in appearance but also combined with mixed metals.

Please be aware of this while shopping if you are looking for a piece with specific qualities or more pure metal.

Visit our ‘Gold’ or our ‘Full 925 Silver’ sections if you are looking for specific silver or gold coloured pieces or pieces with numerical values to indicate percentages of the alloys and pure metals on the plating and/or the entire piece.

* Please also be aware that even despite the percentages shown, this also indicates that there are other metals making up the piece aside from the precious metal hence the piece not being as pure in regards to the precious metal.*

Most of the pieces on our website are made of lab grown gemstones, cubic zirconium diamonds and/or high carbon diamonds (not organic), however we do also provide a minority of natural gemstone/diamond pieces subject to the product descriptions, however you should generally expect pieces to be mixed metals and gemstones/diamonds that are not organic hence our pricing.

For item specifics always refer to the item description in question while keeping in mind what we have stated here and in our website ‘Terms’.

High Carbon HC Diamonds

High carbon diamonds across our website are referred to in the product descriptions as ‘HC’.

High carbon diamonds are not naturally derived diamonds. They are a type of lab grown diamond with emphasis on the carbon purity (hence it being called High carbon) which contributes to the hardness of the diamond being exceptional, adding to the overall brilliance and quality of the piece.

High carbon diamonds are formulated in the same/very similar conditions as natural diamonds, where they are also grown to undergo the same processes as an organic diamond would. This means High carbon diamonds will exhibit distinguishable characteristics like natural diamonds. Both natural and High carbon diamonds are chemically and physically identical.

High Carbon HC Diamonds vs Cubic Zirconium CZ

High carbon diamonds differ to cubic zirconium (cz diamonds) because cubic zirconium diamonds lack as much carbon purity since they are diamond simulants made of zirconium dioxide. They are not crafted under as much high pressure as High carbon diamonds are and therefore will not exhibit the exact same properties or element structures.

Cubic Zirconium CZ Diamonds

Cubic zirconium diamonds are a more affordable type of lab grown diamond meaning they are not naturally derived and have not been grown in the same extensive conditions the HC diamonds will have been grown in which are more identical to the growth processes of a natural diamonds growth.

Although cubic zirconium diamonds are not natural diamonds, they can still be grown to be durable and quality with some brilliant cuts. Depending on the precision of the cut, some cubic zirconium diamonds can look very similar to or even the same as some real diamonds!

Practise Maintenance & Prepare For Investment Pieces

The stones/diamonds in our pieces are higher grade particularly from our ‘Seltora Luxe Collection’ which enables them to look good in the light and out of it.

Be aware these pieces may still be made up of mixed metals subject to product descriptions.

If you have never purchased an expensive piece of jewellery with pure silver or gold/real diamonds, it is a great starting point to purchase more affordable jewellery pieces such as 925 sterling silver pieces or pieces with cubic zirconium diamonds, as they tend to still be great quality and durable, while you can also find some stunning, innovative designs just like the more costly and pure pieces of jewellery.

It is a great start for practicing maintenance of your jewellery pieces and learning how to look after your pieces to prepare you for when you decide to make bigger purchases for real diamonds/carats. These pieces of jewellery are also great to have as spare/replacement pieces if you are someone who wears expensive pieces but want to put them away and switch to a less costly piece if you are partaking in practical activities, that way in the event they get lost, it will not hurt your pocket as much as you losing your more expensive piece!
